Yemeni Journalists Syndicate Condemns Assassination of Yemeni-Dutch Journalist Mosa’ab Al-Hutami in Houthi Drone Attack in Marib

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate mourned with deep sorrow the young television director Mosa’ab Abdulhafidh Al-Hutami, who was killed when a drone belonging to the Houthi group targeted the location where he was filming a documentary south of Marib city on Saturday evening. His brother, photographer Suhaib Al-Hutami, was injured in the same attack.
The syndicate strongly condemned this crime, reiterating its demands for an urgent and comprehensive investigation into all killings of journalists and media workers, and the repeated violations against them.
Mosa’ab Al-Hutami – who held Dutch citizenship – was a distinguished director and photographer. He participated in the production of documentaries and short films that were shown at international festivals, and he also worked with Al Jazeera and Al Jazeera Documentary channels. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in film directing from Jordan before moving to the Netherlands, where he obtained his citizenship. He had returned to Marib about a month ago with his wife to work on producing media materials documenting the Yemeni reality.
The syndicate extended its heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s father, Abdulhafidh Al-Hutami – a member of the administrative board of the syndicate’s branch in Al-Hudaidah – and to the Al-Hutami family and his colleagues in the media, praying to God to have mercy on the deceased and grant his family patience and solace.
It is worth noting that Al-Hutami is the latest victim in a series of attacks targeting journalists and media professionals by Houthi attacks, amid continuous local and international demands for the protection of media workers and the prosecution of perpetrators.
